RESTORATION OF VILLA ALLNOCH IN SAMOBOR
2022 – 2024. – the conceptual, main project was realized
Client: Grad Samobor
Area: 700 m²
The project for the restoration of Villa Allnoch in Samobor aims to preserve and revitalize this individually protected immovable cultural heritage. Located within the historic urban area on Starogradska Street, the building required special attention at all stages of reconstruction.
The villa was built in the first half of the 19th century as a residential building typical of the Samobor area, featuring a basement, ground floor, and attic/first floor. After World War II, the building was nationalized and has since hosted various public functions; today, it houses the Samobor Museum.
During the earthquake in 2020, certain minor structural and non-structural damages were identified in the building. The concept of the restoration project is based on preserving the original architectural elements while incorporating modern functionalities to meet the needs of the museum. The reconstruction process includes the repair of damages caused by weather effects and the earthquake, focusing on the restoration of load-bearing structures and external walls. Additionally, the project includes a complete renovation of the building, implementing necessary energy efficiency measures.
The project preserves the original concept of access to the building—the main entrance with auxiliary spaces from Starogradska Street in the basement and the entrance from the garden at ground level, where a Secessionist multi-part window dominates. The ground floor has a circular flow of space that will transform into representative museum areas, while the attic and part of the first floor (the extended garden wing) will serve as offices.
This reconstruction involves not only physical changes but also a transformation in functional terms, allowing for better accessibility to cultural content for the local community. The project represents a synergy between the past and the future, aimed at strengthening the cultural heritage of Samobor and creating a space that will serve generations to come.
