RESTORATION OF THE RESIDENTIAL-COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN PETRINJA
2022 – . idejni, glavni i izvedbeni projekt – projekt u izradi
Client: Grad Petrinja
Area: 340 m²
The project involves a residential-commercial building located on Nazorova Street in the center of the City of Petrinja, which suffered significant damage during the earthquake in December 2020. This building, constructed in the first half of the 19th century, is an individually protected cultural asset and represents an important part of the city’s cultural heritage.
Typologically, the building belongs to a series of residential-commercial houses built in the early 19th century, which featured shops on the ground floor and apartments on the upper floor. It is a single-story structure with an “L”-shaped floor plan, oriented with its façade towards the street.
The 2020 earthquake caused moderate structural damage and severe non-structural damage, particularly in the courtyard section of the building, necessitating urgent stabilization and protection measures immediately after the earthquake.
The restoration project includes the removal of the most heavily damaged parts of the building, as well as the reorganization of internal spaces to improve functionality. The restoration will maintain the existing purpose, with commercial space on the ground floor and residential space on the upper floor. A new approach to the residential part will be facilitated by reconstructing the staircase, providing easier and safer access to the upper floors.
The technical aspects of the restoration include repairing structural damages, with necessary constructive reinforcements to walls and ceilings, as well as implementing energy efficiency measures throughout the building.
After the restoration, the building is expected to become a functional space that meets modern living and working standards. This project represents not only the restoration of the building but also the revitalization of cultural heritage and a contribution to the sustainable development of the local community. The goal is to ensure that the building remains a vital part of the city and serves the needs of its users.
