RENOVATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF DONJI MOST IN CITY OF NIN AND PEDESTRIAN ACCESS TO THE BRIDGE

2018 – 2019 – Preliminary, main and detailed design

After the great flood in Nin in September 2017, Donji most was severely damaged and part of the bridge on the north side towards the Lower City Gate collapsed. After reconstruction of the bridge according to the instructions of the conservator, works are being carried out on the access pedestrian area and the nearby landcape.

Along the coast next to the bridge it was created a new plaza. It’s an ambient of maintained space of traditional values and visual quality of the coast.

Floor pavement is the same at the entire pedestrian area and it’s harmonized with the design and the ambience of the city. The stone pavement leads to the city and to the pedestrian bridge on the other side. At several points there are formed green islands with seating areas. The chosen greenery with its structure, habitus and floral element corresponds to the urban environment.

After heavy rains and an unprecedented flood in September 2017, Gornji most was almost completely collapsed in its central part and the end parts of the bridge were severely damaged. The main task of the reconstruction and renovation of the bridge was its return to its original function. Traffic on the bridge is limited to pedestrians, bicycles, mopeds and emergency vehicles

Along the east coast it is formed a new pedestrian area that leads to the bridge. It has a high level of ambience of the existing space with a stone pavement at the bridge and near the city entrance. The paving of pedestrian areas on the east coast is made of concrete decorative pavers with green islands and seating areas.
